The Gospel before the Gospel.
700 years before Christ, God pulled aside the curtain of time and let the people of Isaiah's day look ahead to the suffering of the future Messiah and the resulting forgiveness made available to all mankind.
In 500 words of chapter 53, Isaiah painted the Last Week of Jesus Christ, the Suffering Servant, the only God who has a date in history. It is the Gospel before the Gospel:
- standing silent before his accusers (verse 7);
- hands and feet pierced (v 5);
- hanging between two criminals (v 9);
- buried in a rich man's tomb (v 9);
- it was worth it (v11).
“For I tell you that this scripture,'And He was numbered with the transgressors' (Isaiah 53:12) must be fulfilled in Me.
For what is written about Me has its fulfillment " (Luke 22:37)”.
