2 februarie: Țara dorului.
1. Visul divin: mângâierea lui Israel și lumina revelației către neamuri (Luca 2:32).
Simeon și Ana vorbesc despre copilul Iisus tuturor celor care așteptau restaurarea domniei lui Dumnezeu în Israel și răscumpărarea întregii omeniri.
Istoria spune că 72 traducători au lucrat pentru Septuaginta (Biblia ebraică tradusă în greacă la cererea lui Ptolemeu al II-lea Philadelphus, 285-247 înainte de Hristos).
La traducerea Cărții Isaia 7:14, Simeon, unul dintre ei, s-a îndoit că o fecioară ar putea naște și a vrut să schimbe cuvântul. Dumnezeu l-a lăsat să trăiască pentru a vedea acea fecioară.
Simeon a luat în brațe pruncul Iisus în vârstă de 40 de zile și L-a binecuvântat pe Dumnezeu, spunând:
„Nunc dimittis servum tuum, Domine, secundum verbum tuum, in pace” (latină),
(„Acum, Stăpâne, lasă pe slujitorul tău să plece în pace”).
2. Când văduva din Sidon din Fenicia l-a întâlnit pe Ilie (875 înainte de Hristos), ea a crezut că pregătește ultima masă pentru fiul ei și apoi va muri (III Regi 17).
Dar un simplu act de credință a produs un miracol și vasul cu făină nu s-a consumat și ulciorul cu ulei nu s-a uscat.
Domnul nostru Iisus Hristos a urmat drumul lui Ilie până în regiunea Tirului și Sidonului, împlinind cuvintele lui Simeon, pentru a aduce lumina revelației neamurilor.
Femeia canaanită (Matei 15:21) nu i-a cerut lui Iisus un loc înalt la masă, ci doar firimituri de speranță pentru fiica ei bolnavă.
„Un copil este atât o speranță, cât și o promisiune pentru omenire” (Montessori).
The Land of Longing.

Simeon and Anna speak about the child Jesus to all who were awaiting the restoration of God's rule in Israel and redemtion to all mankind.
The story goes that 72 translators worked for Septuaginta (Hebrew Bible into Greek).
When translating the Book of Isaia 7:14, Simeon, one of them, doubted that a virgin could give birth and wanted to change the word. God let him live to see that virgin.
Simeon took Jesus into his arms and blessed God, saying :
"Nunc dimittis servum tuum, Domine, secundum verbum tuum, in pace"(latin),
("Now, Master, let your servant go in peace").
2. When the widow of Sidon in Phoenicia met Elijah (875 before Christ), she thought she was preparing her last meal for her son and then die (1 Kings 17).
But a simple act of faith produced a miracle and the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry.
Our Lord Jesus Christ followed the road of Elijah to the region of Tyre and Sidon, fulfilling the words of Simeon, to bring the light of revelation to the Gentiles.
The Canaanite Woman (Matthew 15:21)did not asked Jesus for a high place to the life's table, but only for crumbs of hope for her sick daughter.
"A child is both a hope and a promise for mankind" (Montessori).
