Moartea Sfîntului Ioan Botezătorul, 29 august.

Ioan Botezătorul l-a jignit pe regele Irod cu acuzația lui directă. Dar cel mai mult venin a venit de la soția lui Irod (pe care regele o furase de la fratele său Filip).
Irod a avut sentimente amestecate în legătură cu Ioan. Îi plăcea să-l asculte pe profet și avea o frică respectuoasă de el și de mesajul lui sever.
Cu toate acestea, după ce a căzut într-o capcană întinsă de soția și fiica sa vitregă, el a cedat presiunii curții și a ordonat execuția lui Ioan (Matei 14)

The Death of John the Baptist, 29 August.

John the Baptist offended King Herod with his blunt accusation.
But the most of venom came from Herod's wife (whom the king had stolen from his brother Philip).
Herod had mixed feeelings abut John. He liked to lisen to the prophet and had a respectful fear of him and his stern message.
After falling into a trap set by his wife and stepdaughter, however, he succumbed to peer pressure and ordered John's execution (Matthew 14)
