St. Princess Catherine of Alexandria, Egypt + 25 Nov 305.
She was born into a noble family and achieved great learning, so much so that she informed her parents she would only marry a man who outshone her own beautiful inteligence. No such husband could be found, until Catherine discovered Christianity. She found her perfect match in Jesus Christ. She then proceeded to convert dozens of philosophers the Emperor sent to test her, catching a further soul for Christ in the figure of the empress Valeria Maximilla herself. Her victory was rewarded by the philosophers being martyred before Catherine was tied to a wheel, tortured and beheaded, aged 18.
"The living wisdom of Christianity is greater than that of any dry phylosophy because it is focused in the life of a person, Jesus Christ" (Mark Vernon, The Big Questions, God).
