Law vs. conscience
The servant of the church is a patient gardener:
- "Sir, leave the tree alone for one more year, and I will dig around it and fertilize it..." (Luke 13:8).
The Pharisees hid behind their own set of laws, to avoid love's obligation for sick people like the crippled woman bent over and not able to straighten up at all. (Luke 13:14).
A servant of our Lord should not use the letter of the law to rationalize away our obligation to care for others.
People's needs are more important than rules and regulations or public image.
