7 August: Duminica înmultirii
Miracolul înmulțirii pâinilor și peștilor s-a întâmplat de două ori:
- prima înmulțire (Mt 14:13-21)Domnul Hristos a hrănit aproape cinci mii de oameni,
- iar al doilea (Mt 15, 32-39) a hrănit aproape patru mii.
Gesturile, expresiile și acțiunile Domului în ambele minuni sunt asemănătoare cu cele de la Cina cea de Taină și cu frângerea pâinii la Emaus cu ucenicii săi după înviere: „A luat pâinea și a spus binecuvântarea; apoi a rupt și le-a dat lor” (Luca 24:30). Asemănarea acțiunilor converge către sensul euharistic al Cinei celei de Taină.
La nivel mesianic, Iisus apare ca păstorul care își conduce turma spre pășuni proaspete.
El a fost cel care a proclamat: „Veniți la Mine, toți cei trudiți și împovărați, și Eu vă voi odihni” (Mt 11:28).
La nivel eclesial, ucenicii sunt implicați de Iisus în împărțirea pâinii; mai întâi, el le dă, iar apoi ei o împart mulţimilor (v. 19). Pasajul vorbește atât despre femei și copii, cât și despre bărbați, făcând aluzie la dimensiunea familială și laică a Bisericii alături de dimensiunea sa clericală, clerul reprezentat de ucenici.
The Miracle of the Multiplication
The Miracle of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fish happened twice:
- the first (Mt 14: 13-21) multiplication fed nearly five thousand people,
- and the second (Mt 15: 32-39) fed nearly four thousand.
The gestures, expressions and actions of Jesus in both miracles are similar to those at the Last Supper and the breaking of the bread at Emmaus with his disciples after the resurrection of Jesus: “He took the bread and said the blessing; then he broke it and handed it to them” (Luke 24:30). The similarity of the actions converges towards the Eucharistic meaning of the Last Supper.
At the messianic level, Jesus appears as the shepherd who leads his flock to fresh pastures.
It was he who proclaimed: “Come to me all you who labour and are overburdened and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28)
On the ecclesial level, the disciples are involved by Jesus in the distribution of bread; first, he hands it to them, and they then distribute it to the crowds (v. 19). The passage speaks of women and children as well as the men, hinting at the family and secular dimension of the Church alongside its clerical dimension, the clergy represented by the disciples.
