Nicodemus, 'being born again' (John 3).
Jesus instructs Nicodemus on the necessity of a new birth, from above, through the baptism.
Baptism = dressing up as Christ : "For all of you who were baptized into Christ, have clothed yourselves with Christ" (Galatians 3:27).
Of course, we pretend to put ourselves in the place of a son of God.
But Christ Himself, the Son of God who is a man (just like you) and God (just like His Father) is actually at your side and is already at that moment beginning to turn your pretence into a reality.
You are not longer thinking simply about right and wrong; you are trying to catch the good infection from a Person.
The real Son of God is at your side.
He is beginning to turn you into the same kind of thing as Himself;
He is beginning to 'inject' His kind of life and thought into you.
The New Testament talks about Christians 'being born again';
it talks about them 'putting on Christ';
about Christ 'being formed in us';
about our coming to 'have the mind of Chris' ( C.S.Lewis).
