3 aprilie, Duminica a IV-a din Postul Mare.
Predica de pe munte (Matei capitolul 5):
- Fericiți cei săraci cu duhul și cei ce plâng;
- Fericiți cei blânzi;
- Fericiți cei care flămânzesc și însetează după dreptate;
- Fericiți cei milostivi, cei curați cu inima, făcătorii de pace...
- Fericiți cei persecutați. Bucurați-vă!

 

„Predica de pe Munte: „Nu supraviețuirea celui mai puternic”, ci „Triumful victimelor”.
Diverse scene din Evanghelii oferă o imagine bună a genului de oameni care L-au impresionat pe Isus:
- o văduvă care și-a pus ultimii bănuți în cutia milei;
- un colector de taxe necinstit atât de plin de anxietate încât s-a cățărat într-un copac pentru a vedea mai bine pe Iisus;
- un copil fără nume, din mulțime;
- o femeie cu un șir de cinci căsătorii nefericite;
- un cerşetor orb;
- o femeie adulteră;
- un bărbat cu lepră.
Puterea, aspectul frumos, conexiunile și instinctul competitiv pot aduce succesul unei persoane într-o societate ca a noastră, dar tocmai acele calități pot bloca intrarea în împărăția cerurilor.
Dependență, întristare, pocăință, dorință de schimbare - acestea sunt porțile către împărăția lui Dumnezeu "(Philip Yancey)
 

3rd of April, The 4th Sunday of Lent.
The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew cap 5):
- Blessed are the poor in spirit and they that mourn;
- Blessed are the meek;
- Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst for righteousness;
- Blessed are the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers...
- Blessed are the persecuded. Rejoice !

"The Sermon on the Mount: 'Not survival of the fittest' but 'Triumph of the victims'.
Various scenes in the Gospels give a good picture of the kind of people who impressed Jesus:
- a widow who placed her last weo cents in the offering;
- a dishonest tax collector so riddled with anxiety that he climbed a tree to get a better view of Jesus;
- a nameless, nondescript child;
- a woman with a string of five unhappy marriages;
- a blind beggar;
- an adulteress;
- a man with leprosy.
Strength, good look, connections, and the competitive instinct may bring a person success in a society like ours, but those very qualities may block entrance to the kingdom of heaven.
Dependence, sorrow, repentance, a longing to change - these are the gates to God's kingdom" (Philip Yancey)
