The lamp of the body is the eye (Matthew 6:22).
"Our sensory system distorts the information that we do collect.
There is no such thing as colour in the real world. Colour is made in the mind.
In the outside world there are light rays with different wavelengths, but they have no colour. When the information on these rays from our eyes arrives at our brain, the different wavelengths are assigned different colours.
Similarly, we look at a rock and perceive a solid block of material.
Actually we are viewing swarms of subatomic particles separated by lots of emply space.
Our limited senses and processing centre insist that the truth is a completely solid rock with no emply space : out almost crazy perception of the world we live in.
It also makes a mockery of truth, if we consider truth as what really happened; how do we know 'what really happened'? Our whole means of perception and understanding of what is happening around us is suddenly beginning to look hopelessly inadequate!
But if our perception of the world is not the same as that of a beetle or a bat, is it worthwhile considering that, among the things we do not sense, there is something divine?"(Andrew Parker, Genesis Enigma)
