Intrarea Triumfalā

Intrarea triumfală.
Un ofițer roman se îndrepta în galop pentru a verifica tulburările de la poarta Ierusalimului spre Betania. El a participat la multe procesiuni la Roma: generalul cuceritor într-un car de aur cu vârfurile roților strălucind în soare, urmat de ofițeri în armură lustruită. În spate vine o procesiune de prizonieri și sclavi în lanțuri, o dovadă vie a ceea ce se întâmplă cu cei care sfidează Roma.
La intrarea triumfătoare a lui Iisus în Ierusalim, mulțimea adoratoare alcătuiește alaiul zdrențuit: șchiopii, orbii, copiii, cârcoșii din Galileea și Betania.
Iar Iisus călare pe spatele unui pui de măgar, cu o haină împrumutată întinsă pe spinare, fiindu-i şea.
Ce fel de rege era acesta? Puteai auzi: „Osana!”, „Osana!”.

He has attended meny processions in Rome : the conquering general in a chariot of gold with wheel spikes flushing in the sun, followed by officers in polished armor. At the rear comes a ragtag procession of prisoners and slaves in chains, a living proof of what happens to those who defy Rome.
In Jesus' triumphant entry, the adoring crowd makes up the ragtag procession: the lame, the blind, the children, the pesants from Galilee and Bethany. And Jesus riding on the back of a baby donkey, a borrowed coat draped across its back-bone serving as his saddle. What manner of king was this? You could hear : "Hosanna!", "Hosanna!".
Jesus was singing Psalm 8, "Out of the mouths of babes and infants You have drawn a defence against your foes, to silence enemy and avenger..."
