The Empty Tomb.
Something happened 2000 years ago that changed the course of history from B.C. (Before Christ) to A.D. (the Latin Anno Domini - the year of our Lord). Thay "something" was an empty tomb.
A job well done: Pilate required certification of Christ's death.
Security precautions taken with the trial, crucifixion, burial, entombment, sealing and the guarding of Christ's tomb make it very dificult for critics to defend their position that Christ did not rise from the dead.
The high priest tried to bribe the Roman guards, which would have been a mockery if they had been Temple police. The high priest said he would keep them from being killed.
The Roman Seal stood for the power and authority of the Roman Empire and breaking it meant execution by crucifixion upside down.
The large stone moved. 'Anakulio' means to roll something up a slop or an incline and 'apokulio' means away from another object. The Jewish authorities must have visited the scene, examined the stone. No twist of human ingenuity could provide an adequate answer or scapegoat and they wore forced to bribe the guard.
The Roman guard fled, an offense under the penalty of death.
Graveclothes in the form of a body, slightly caved in and empty, like the empty chrysalis of a caterpillar's cocoon.
The disciples did not go off to Athens or Rome to preach Christ raised from the dead; they went right back to the city of Jerusalem where, if what they were teaching were false, their message would have been disproved.
Paul despised Christ and persecuted Christ's followers. Later he became one of the greatest witnesses for the truth of the resurection. In 1Corinthians 15 he appeals to his audience's knowledge that Christ has been seen by more than 500 people at on time. "If you do not believe me, you can ask them!"
