Nascut in Antiohia in 347 din parintii Secundus si Antusa, Ioan a studiat filosofia greceasca, a fost botezat crestin, a devenit calugar, a scris multe opere, a pastorit ca Patriarh al Constantinopolului timp de 6 ani. Si-a dobindit citiva falsi prieteni si multi dusmani adevarati. A extins lucrarea de caritate a Bisericii, a compus Sfinta Liturghie ce-i poarta numele, a interpretat Sfinta Scriptura cu minte si gura de aur si a lasat multe carti de predici.

The rich man did not go to hell because of his wealth but because he was selfish, refusing to feed Lazarus, take him in, or care for him. The rich man was hardhearted in spite of his great blessings. The amount of money we have is not as important as the way we use it. What is your attitude toward your money and possessions? Do you use them selfishly, or do you use them to help others?
