 JEREMIAH SERVED AS A PROPHET TO JUDAH FROM 627 B.C. UNTIL THE EXILE IN 586 B.C.

Jeremiah confronts many people with their sins: kings, false prophets, those at the temple, and those at the gates. A lack of response made Jeremiah wonder if he was doing any good at all; he often felt discouraged and sometimes bitter. Jeremiah lived to see many of his prophecies come true – most notably the fall of Jerusalem.

722 B.C. Israel (northern kingdom) falls.

701 B.C. Jerusalem beseiged by Sennacherib of Assyria.

627 B.C. Jeremiah becomes a prophet.
