My grandchild, ... my precious feather, you have come to life, been born, been blessed to come into the world in the land of our Lord. The One for whom we live forged your life, gave you shape. Your mother and father have watched over you; your aunts and uncles, all your family, have watched over you, have cried for you, have suffered for you that you might be born.
Love and serve others in holiness; respect and obey your mother and father, and do their hearts' desire. Your gift of service, obedience, and respect will be the recompense they deserve.
Push away from you all that is not good: that which is wrong, all the things that dishonor you... Do not damage to the community, or the peace. Because if you do bad things, you will not come away unscathed: you must eventually suffer from such actions.
With these words, I encourage and strengthen you; through them, I console you. Throw away nothing I have told you, nothing you have heard. May all this be your inspiration, helping you always to remember the Lord, our God.
