Jacob loved Joseph more than his older brothers and gave him a special coat. How wonderful he looked! And how jealous Joseph’s brothers were! They sold him to traders and told Jacob that Joseph was dead. Jacob wept.(Genesis 37)
JOSEPH (1910 BC). At that time Egyptians use irrigation systems; spoked wheel was invented in the ancient Near East; horses used to pull vehicles.
Joseph was betrayed and deserted by his family, exposed to sexual temptation, and punished for doing the right thing; he endured a long imprisonment and was forgotten by those he helped. Joseph rose in power from a slave to a ruler of Egypt. He was known for his personal integrity, a man of spiritual sensitivity. He prepared a nation to survive a famine.
