COVID-19.

The Australian Government suspended non-essential gatherings on 22 March 2020, to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19).
This includes church gathering and public worship.
Our church "St. Dimitrie" of Brisbane has closed the doors to the public until instructed otherwise.
The church is not open for private prayer.
These measures also apply to outdoor spaces associated with the church.
All worship and ministry gatherings held on church grounds or in other public spaces are suspended.
All small group gatherings held in private spaces, such as people's homes, are suspended.
The parish will suspend face-to-face meetings of parish council and church committees.
Baptism is suspended.
Funerals are permited (on site or off) but are restricted to no more than 10 people.
Holy communion is suspended except in case of an emergency.
Pastoral visits to people's homes who are in high risks groups are suspended:
- people aged 70 years and over;
- people aged 65 years and over with chronic medical conditions;
- people with compromised immune systems.
Pastoral visits should only happen in emergencies and taking heed of all safety guidelines and appropriate personal protection.

PROTECTING YOURSELF AND OTHERS FROM COVID-19.
COVID-19 is transmited from person to person, usually when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
Transmission may occur from contaminaded surfaces, so it is important to frequently wash your hands.
COVID-19 can cause symptoms similar to the flu, including fever, cough, sore throat, tiredness or shortness of breath.
Most people who are infected experience mild to moderate symptoms from which they fully recover.
However, some people develop more serious illness with pneumonia and other complications.
People at increaded risk of serious illness include the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, heart and lung disease) or weakened immune system.
To protect yourself and others from infection, practice good hand and respiratory hygiene:
- cleaning hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rubs;
- covering your nose and mouth with a tissue or flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing;
- avoiding contact with anyone who has symptoms such a fever, a cough, sore throat, fatigue, and shortness of breath.
- staying home if you are unwell.
If you have arrived from overseas since 12 am 16 March 2020 you are required to self-quarantine for 14 days.
