24-150x150 DAVID AND GOLIATH ( 1010 BC)

At first Saul ruled well, leading his armies against many enemies; but later, Saul disobeyed God. So God sent Samuel to find a new king. (1 Samuel 15). Samuel found a boy looking after his father’s sheep – his name was David. David was brave. He killed the giant Goliath with a sling. The people sang, “How brave David is!” (1 Samuel 17).

David became a great king; he loved to play his harp and sing of God’s love in psalms. David made Jerusalem his chief city. He brought the special box ( The Ark)  containing the Ten Commandments to Jerusalem . The Ark was placed in a special tent; sacrifices were offered and David appointed priests to take care of it.  (2 Samuel 6).

God loved David and promised, through the Prophet Nathan, that the Messiah would be born of David’s family; His kingdom would last forever
